Perfect Weekend For Peak Foliage Ends With Rain

Perfect Weekend For Peak Foliage Ends With Rain

screen-shot2016-10-29-07_35_09Saturday October 29 – After a chilly and even frosty start for some this morning, we are about to get a big bounce on the thermometer on the order of over 30 degrees. From temps in the mid 30s to lower 40s, sunshine and a shift of the wind direction will boost us into the 70s this afternoon. This is great timing as the foliage has reached near peak color in the nearby mountains, and the Baltimore suburbs are catching up. The latest Fall Foliage map is below…

Note that the warmest temps today will be inland across the mountain valleys and away from the water, where upper 70s to near 80°F will prevail. Near the Bay and on the Eastern Shore, it will be noticeably cooler as winds off the water cool down to the mid 60s and near 70°F.

Do what you can to get outside either today or tomorrow. Sunday’s temps will be even warmer, but clouds will build in as the next cold front will arrive in afternoon from north to south. See the timeline sliders below. But despite the drop in temps on Monday, Halloween will be dry for the kids and most of next week will somewhat mild.
