Sunday August 21 – A line of strong storms formed as expected this afternoon, but we only had a marginal threat of them turning severe. They did. A waterspout was spotted in one cell crossing the Chesapeake Bay from various locations around 3 PM. It should be noted that waterspouts often have winds less than 70 mph, so less intense than a land falling tornado. But quite a sight on the water, especially to boaters.
