Windy and Warmer Then Storms And Hard Freeze Next Week

March 31 2016- We are closing out the month of March with more wind helping to brings temps back to the 70s, but it won’t last long. Clouds increase and some showers west and north later today. Metro Baltimore and central Maryland will get the rain tonight along with possible morning thunderstorms Friday. There will be a surge of warm air Friday and some could get close to 80°F Then temps crash this weekend. In fact, there is a chance we could get some rain ending with snow flurries Saturday night, making for a colder second half of the weekend. Sadly that brings in a chilly Oriole’s Opening Day, with another system racing our way. That will be followed by a hard freeze next week that will danger crops in southern  Maryland.

Here is a the quick look at the maps showing the timeline. Notice the winds staying rather strong aloft, and the weekend systems indicating the energy that might carry snow showers or flurries on the northern end of our area.

Opening Day:

Showers are expected to arrive by evening, but this is worth watching as the timing is likely to change. The cold air that follows will be colder than this week and danger crops in southern Maryland with a hard freeze.
