Storms And Snow Showers: Big Weekend Cool Down

Storms And Snow Showers: Big Weekend Cool Down

November17WeatherMapOn Monday Baltimore’s BWI hit 70F in a November that has had temperatures well above normal. Payback is on the way, but there could be one more last run a that elusive number on the thermometer.  First, a shift  of the winds form the east will make it much cooler that with mid 50s to near 60F. Clouds build in ahead of the large storm that is bringing raging blizzard in Colorado and severe storms with tornadoes in the south.  It’s the storm line we need to watch for Thursday morning, then the cold air that could bring snow showers and flurries this weekend. Compare that this Sunday to last week’s Ravens game when it was 64F.

A flip of the jet stream is what we will notice by the end of the weekend. This plot shows the dip or trough shifting to the eastern US, which will adjust our temperatures to a below normal pattern into Thanksgiving week.

Rain Timeline:

The heaviest rain will pass through Thursday morning, then move out in the afternoon.

Weekend Storm Passes North:

The next event will be a glancing blow. The trailing colder air could bring snow showers Sunday. Do not expect accumulation locally,m but great news for the mountains.  The first push will be southern part of the storm, then the Lake Effect Snow Machine kicks in. This could provide flurries or snow showers, especially on the north and west side of Baltimore.
