St. Patrick’s Day Brings Lots Of Green To The Radar Screen

Maryland Weather
Forecast

Overnight Report

Thursday March 17 brings a wrinkle to our nice stretch of weather days.  After two days with sun and 70s the luck of the Irish will not be with us on St. Patrick’s Day.  A potent storm system will be rolling up the coast and across southern Maryland.  It looks like the rain will be with us most of the day.

This one will be warm enough for rain, but cooler that the last few days.

Since we are into spring model with school sports and perhaps the holiday festivities, I wanted to share the rain timeline with you so you know what to expect.

Here’s a look at the animation and then the slider followed by the temperatures for the day. Hope this helps you prepare accordingly.

Radar Simulation Animation:

6 AM to 10 PM

It will be a wet morning, and then if this tracks as expect there will be a backlash of showers through mid afternoon and evening.

How Much Rain?

This is the NAM 3 Km Model prediction. It may be a little high, but we still see a wide range of over 1/2 inch to help make the soil soggy.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
