Wednesday Morning Report
We are still fully entrenched in this heat wave but it will break tomorrow. A strong cold front will arrive with severe storms on Thursday, followed by a pleasant weather set up Friday into the weekend.
To our south, NOAA is watching a former hurricane in Mexico ready to emerge in the Gulf and redevelop to a tropical storm and reach Florida this weekend. That will cross into the Atlantic and lead to high waves for our beaches this weekend.
High Pressure in control for the eastern US. This will allow the afternoon to turn hot again, while a line of strong to severe storms will cross the Midwest. That will reach us by Thursday.
The chance for a storm popping up is about 20%.

We will track an initial severe storm line in the afternoon, then more storms through overnight.
NOAA and The National Hurricane Center gives a 70% chance for a named storm by this weekend. It will be called Alex.
Forecast Animation Friday to Sunday Night
This will cross Florida and clip the North Carolina coast. The impact for our region will be rip currents.
The first Eastern Pacific Tropical Cyclone was named on May 28, 2022 off the coast of Mexico.
This was named Agatha, and it reached Category 2 intensity with top winds of 110 mph on Monday May 30, 2022 (yesterday).
Agatha made landfall at 5 PM EDT near San Pedro Pochulta with 105 mph winds. This was southeast of the Mexican resort city of Acapulco.
It has moved inland and weekend significantly today.
Tracking former Hurricane Agatha into southern Mexico. It is no longer considered a tropical system, but may emerge in the Atlantic basin and reform.
A pleasant weather pattern by Friday and this weekend. Next week we watch the heat and storms return again.

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
